A caffeine pouch looks almost identical to a nicotine pouch, and some brands use the same flavour names for both. On one can 150mg means caffeine; on the next, 35mg means nicotine. Here's how to read the label before you buy.
Quick answer: Caffeine pouches are tobacco-free pouches that sit under your top lip and release 75mg–150mg of caffeine through the gum, with no nicotine in the ones we stock. Denssi Viking Energy at 100mg matches the NHS figure for a cup of instant coffee.
What are caffeine pouches?
They're small pouches, a bit like teabags, that sit between your top lip and gum and release caffeine. You don't chew or swallow them. They're made to be taken out and thrown away after use, as ABC News notes. If you've seen a nicotine pouch, the format will look familiar.
Inside, it's mostly fibre, water and flavour. An EU retailer listing for Denssi Energy gives plant fibres, water, caffeine, L-theanine, B vitamins, xylitol (a sweetener) and flavourings. A retailer listing for Iceberg Energy gives cellulose, a pH adjuster, flavouring, caffeine, a humectant, a preservative and water. Recipes can differ between markets, so the ingredient list printed on your can is the one that counts.
Caffeine pouches are tobacco-free, and the Denssi and Iceberg caffeine ranges we stock contain no nicotine. Don't assume that from the brand name, though. Both brands also make nicotine pouches, and we lay those out in the mg trap section below.
How do they compare with nicotine pouches? They're a different product with a different active ingredient, often in a very similar can. We don't rank one against the other on health. Choose based on what's actually printed on the can.
Do they work? They contain caffeine, and with a pouch it's absorbed through the lining of your mouth instead of being drunk. People respond to caffeine differently, so we won't promise you any particular effect.
How much caffeine is in a caffeine pouch?
The common UK strengths are 75mg, 100mg and 150mg of caffeine per pouch. The figure on the can is per pouch, not per can, so keep that in mind when you compare products. The strongest caffeine pouch we stock is Iceberg Energy at 150mg.
Stronger products exist. Pouches with 200mg of caffeine, such as Red On! and Muse Surge, are on the market, but we don't stock them.

Put simply, a 75mg Iceberg pouch has the same caffeine as an NHS cup of tea. A 100mg Denssi pouch matches a cup of instant coffee. A single 150mg pouch is 75% of the 200mg daily limit the NHS gives for pregnancy.
One label quirk: Denssi's US FAQ page lists 50mg per pouch, and the US range may not be the same product as ours. Our product listing gives 100mg per pouch for the cans we sell, but go by the can in your hand.
The mg trap: check the can before you buy
This is where labels catch people out. On a caffeine can, 150mg is caffeine. On a nicotine can, 35mg is nicotine. The two numbers aren't comparable, so don't judge one product by your habits with the other.
The names can be just as confusing. Iceberg uses several of the same flavour names for caffeine and nicotine pouches. Denssi uses a similar naming style across both its ranges. And "Energy" on a can doesn't tell you whether it's a caffeine pouch or a nicotine pouch. Here's how it lines up across what we list:

Iceberg's 35mg "Energy" and Killa Exclusive "Energy" are both nicotine pouches. We haven't confirmed from the manufacturers whether either also contains caffeine, so read the ingredient list on the can. If you've been searching for Camo caffeine pouches, note that the Camo pouches we currently list are nicotine pouches.
If you don't already use nicotine, the nicotine versions in this table aren't for you. A 35mg pouch is a very strong nicotine pouch, and it's not for anyone who isn't already used to strong pouches. Nicotine is addictive.
How to use a caffeine pouch and how long to keep it in
We couldn't find a keep-in time published by Denssi or Iceberg themselves, and we haven't confirmed whether their cans print one. If your can gives a time, follow it. If it doesn't, take the pouch out when the flavour fades, or sooner if it feels uncomfortable. Retailer advice for Denssi alone ranges from about 20–30 minutes to 30–60 minutes, and some retailer pages use copy written for nicotine pouches. A number you read online may not apply to your can.
- Use one pouch at a time.
- Place it between your gum and top lip.
- Leave it there. Don't chew it or swallow it.
- Take it out when the time on the can is up. If the can doesn't give one, take it out when the flavour fades or sooner if it feels uncomfortable.
Put used pouches in the lid compartment if your can has one, or in a general waste bin. Never drop them in the street. Keep the lid shut, store the can somewhere cool and dry, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
If your gum feels sore, take the pouch out. If the irritation doesn't settle, stop using pouches, and see a dentist or GP if it persists.
How many caffeine pouches a day?
There's no set number of pouches. What matters is your total caffeine for the day from coffee, tea, cola, energy drinks and pouches together.
It adds up quickly. Using the NHS figures, two cups of instant coffee come to 200mg. Add one 150mg pouch and you're at 350mg before any tea or cola. If you're pregnant, the NHS says to have no more than 200mg of caffeine a day, and one 150mg pouch is 75% of that.
Read the warning on your can too. If it gives a daily maximum or says who the product isn't suitable for, follow it.
If you'd prefer less caffeine per pouch, Iceberg Energy's 75mg tier matches the NHS figure for a cup of tea. Menthol is the choice in that tier if you like a cold mint flavour.
Whatever strength you pick, use one pouch at a time and don't double up.
Side effects of caffeine pouches
Caffeine pouches can cause heart palpitations, jitters, anxiety or sleep problems. Regular users may also get headaches, fatigue and irritability if they skip their usual amount, according to Partnership to End Addiction. Some people are more sensitive to caffeine and may notice these effects at lower amounts. That's one more reason to count every pouch towards your daily total, as set out above.

Denssi is the middle strength at 100mg and the lower-priced of the two brands at £3.99 a can. Viking Energy is Denssi's original flavour, and the other four are Chaos Cola, Berry Beast, Southern Boost and Tropical Fury.
By flavour, the range breaks down into cola (Chaos Cola), berry (Berry Beast), tropical (Tropical Fury), peach iced tea (Southern Boost), mint (Iceberg Sweet Mint and Watermelon Mint) and menthol (Iceberg Menthol). Iceberg's Arasaka, Black and Emerald are named rather than described. Retailer flavour notes for them don't agree, so we won't pretend to know better than the can.
Iceberg Energy costs £4.55 a can at either strength. The 75mg tier covers Energy Mango, Menthol and Strawberry Mango. The 150mg tier covers Arasaka, Black, Emerald, Sweet Mint and Watermelon Mint. The card below is the 150mg caffeine Sweet Mint, not the 35mg nicotine Sweet Mint from the table further up.
On sugar: only treat a pouch as sugar-free if the can or the maker's site says so. The Denssi retailer listing mentioned earlier names xylitol as its sweetener. Pouch counts per can also vary between listings, so check the can for that.

Caffeine snus, caffeine ZYN and nicotine pouches with caffeine
Strictly, snus means tobacco for oral use. Selling it has been illegal in the UK since 1992 under the Tobacco for Oral Use (Safety) Regulations 1992. As of October 2026, the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 re-enacts that ban from 29 October 2026 (s.8). Our guide on whether snus is legal in the UK has the detail.
Products sold online as "caffeine snus" are tobacco-free caffeine pouches. SnusBox sells tobacco-free pouches, not tobacco snus. If you searched "does snus have caffeine", you're most likely after these tobacco-free caffeine pouches rather than snus itself.

Nicotine pouches with caffeine-sounding names are a different question. ZYN Coffee is a coffee-flavoured nicotine pouch. ZYN says its pouches, ZYN Coffee included, don't contain caffeine, and the coffee taste comes from flavourings, not coffee beans. Iceberg's 35mg "Energy" and Killa Exclusive "Energy" are also nicotine pouches. We haven't confirmed from the manufacturers whether either also contains caffeine, so read the ingredient list on the can. We don't suggest using a caffeine pouch and a nicotine pouch at the same time.
Are caffeine pouches legal and 18+ in the UK?
As of October 2026, the Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 defines a "nicotine product". The definition includes any substance containing nicotine that's intended to be delivered into the body, other than tobacco, vapes and licensed medicines (s.51). From 29 October 2026, selling a nicotine product to anyone under 18 is an offence in England and Wales (s.10). That offence is written around nicotine products, and we won't guess at how caffeine pouches are classed in law.
As of October 2026, the government has also announced plans to stop the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to under-16s in England. That gov.uk announcement covers drinks and doesn't name pouches.
